Around 18 million visitors come to Cardiff each year and this generates about £850 million for the local economy each year.
Cardiff boasts a fine shopping area at the heart of the city centre, especially around Queen Street and St Mary’s Street, and there are large suburban retail parks in Cardiff Bay, Culverhouse Cross, Leckwith, Newport Road and Pontprennau as well as popular markets and arcades dotted around the city centre.
The modern St David’s Centre is a huge shopping centre – it’s one of the largest in Britain – and caters for a wide range of tastes and interests. You’ll find designer brands, high street names as well as independent and individual shops in Cardiff – it’s no wonder that a poll in recent years voted Cardiff the 6th best city in the UK for shopping.
